Well, our lovely designer, Jess, has been living the high life this week, dining out at Michel Roux Jr’s flagship restaurant, Le Gavroche, in London’s Mayfair – awarded two Michelin stars. She even got to meet the man himself!

Naturally we wanted all the details and Jess gave us a bite-by-bite account of the restaurant’s Menu Exceptionnel – an 8-course taster menu, with matching wines. Yum!
A series of mouthwatering starters, included carpaccio of beef, scallops and a deliciously light cheese souffle (of which more later …). These were followed by fish and main courses, featuring Stone Bass and succulent pig’s cheeks (although not together!) a cheese board and dessert. Wines progressed from light reds and whites, with a beautiful rose to accompany the scallops, through to the heartier end of the spectrum and finishing with a Maury Solera 1928, a sweet red wine to go with the decadent chocolate pudding. Phew – we put on half a stone just listening!
But if you’re not going to be in the Mayfair area anytime soon, you can still add a dash of Le Gavroche style to your weekend menu with Michel Jr’s very own recipe for Souflee Suissesse (that’s Cheese Souffle to you and me!) http://bbc.in/19gpcf4.

And, as luck would have it, we have 50% off Denby ramekin dishes in store and online – perfect for souffles!
