Tea Cup Goes Lady Gaga!

£47K for a tea cup and saucer. Did you read that right £47,000 not £47. This was the amount bid for a fine bone china tea cup and saucer used just once by the American pop star Lady Gaga. It does include the singers lipstick and her signature. The tea cup which has a deep gold and cobalt blue rim also bears the inscription  “We pray for Japan”

This is no ordinary tea cup as the proceeds are  to support  Japanese artists who suffered following the huge Tsunami natural disaster that hit Japan in March 2011 killing in it’s wake  19,000 people and leaving many homeless.

We understand that fine china Tea Cups and Saucers is Lady Gaga’s extravagance, well at least one of them!

You have to be amazed at the celebrity impact to generate such a figure on what would otherwise be a £47 tea cup and saucer. Hats off to Lady Gaga for lending her support to such a worthy cause.
