After a couple of years absence whilst Wedgood, the then owners of Rosenthal and Thomas China, went into administration, I am pleased to say that we are now stocking the Thomas Medaillon Platinum silver band china and the Thomas Medaillon Gold band china.
Now there is no doubt that the Thomas Medallion tableware ranges are good looking, good value and great selling – there is just one small issue and that is customers trying to identify and buy the right size cup to match the ones they already have. If it is any solace it confuses us and the factory too!
So to make things a bit easier for us all here are the sizes and descriptions for both the Thomas Medaillon Platinum Band Cups and the Thomas Medaillon Gold Band Cups and my own personal advice on the cups:
No. 2 Espresso Coffee Cup and Saucer clearly is the smallest. perfect as an after dinner small coffee cup but not much else. Height: 58mm Diameter across top: 53mm. Capacity: 125ml.
No. 3 Coffee Cup and Saucer. Now we are getting a better cup of coffee, still probably best as an after dinner coffee cup, too small as a tea cup. Height: 65mm Diameter across top: 60mm. Capacity: 150ml.
No. 4 Tall Tea Cup and Saucer. This is a small tea cup in truth probably in between sizes. Height: 71mm Diameter across top 66mm Capacity: 230ml.
No. 4 Low Tea Cup and Saucer and No. 5 Tall Tea Cup and Saucer
No. 4 Low Tea Cup and Saucer. As it says on the tin a low tea cup. A different shape to all the other Thomas Medaillon cups. Is a popular cup because there are few straight sided tea cups available. Height: 51mm Diameter across top 80mm Capacity: 230ml
No. 5 Tea Cup and Saucer. This is the most popular multi functional tea cup and saucer also gives a decent size of coffee. Height: 76m Diameter across top: 70mm Capacity: 240ml
No. 6 Mug. This is a good sized tea or coffee mug. The porcelain is quite fine so you do not feel like you are drinking from a canteen mug. Height: 84m Diameter across top: 75mm Capacity: 300ml
So there you have it hopefully it will help you choose the right Cups and Saucers.

1 is No.5 Tea cup or the Mug
2 is No 4 Low cup
3 No 3 Coffee cup
4 No. 2 Espressso Coffee Cup
5 No. 4 Tall small tea cup.

I am afraid the Thomas Medaillon Thick 4mm Gold band is discontinued and there is no further stock available either here or at the factory.
The 2mm Gold band saucer would fit the cups you have if that is of any use to you.
